Acceptable Use Policy

Draft - this document is being reviewed and may change before PaalChat opens to the public.

PaalChat sends messages through WhatsApp, SMS and email on behalf of many businesses. One business's spam can get numbers blocked and harm everyone, so these rules apply to every account. They apply from [date] and form part of our Terms of Service.

You must

  • Message only people who agreed to hear from you, for the kind of message you send (for example marketing), and keep a record of that agreement.
  • Honour opt-outs at once. When someone writes STOP or asks you to stop, stop. PaalChat records opt-outs and blocks further marketing to them.
  • Say who you are in your messages, and keep templates accurate.
  • Follow Meta's rules: the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy and Commerce Policy, and the laws on electronic communications and data protection that apply to you.
  • Keep the AI assistant to your business. It must serve your customers about your business; WhatsApp does not allow general-purpose AI chatbots.

You must not

  • Send spam, bulk messages to bought, rented or scraped lists, or messages to people who opted out.
  • Send fraud, scams, phishing, impersonation, or requests for passwords, PINs or full card numbers.
  • Send content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, violent, or that exploits children.
  • Sell or promote goods and services that Meta's Commerce Policy prohibits (for example drugs, weapons, gambling where not licensed, adult products, or fake documents).
  • Use PaalChat to collect sensitive data (health, biometrics, financial account details) unless you are allowed to and need it.
  • Try to get around limits, other businesses' data, our security, or Meta's systems; or resell PaalChat without our agreement.

How we enforce this

New accounts start with daily sending limits that rise as they build a good record. If a number's quality drops, campaigns pause automatically. We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules - straight away for serious cases - and report illegal activity to the authorities.
